Living Hope for Honduras | Newsletter 2018

Thanks to the hundreds of volunteers and financial partners across the US, Living Hope for Honduras continued its growth and outreach throughout 2018. The year was marked with a record number of students sponsored in school (grades 6-12, a record number of university students graduating, a new church in the village of Toro Morte, more mission groups than ever before, and four summer interns from Abilene Christian University.This past year also saw Living Hope expanding the campus of Esperanza Viva Children’s Home. In December construction of the new Children’s Home Director’s residence began with help from a mission group from LaGrange, GA. Once completed, plans are underway to begin construction on the second home for girls, that will provide a safe, loving Christian home to 12 more young girls who have only known a life of neglect and abuse.

In 2018, Living Hope was blessed with the ability to sponsor 149 children in grades 6-12. Generous donors sponsored children to provide required school uniforms, backpacks, shoes, supplies, and fees for upper-level science, art and music classes. In early January, Living Hope interviewed more than 200 students seeking educational assistance and university scholarship grants.Students are recommended through the Benevolence Committees of each of the 16 churches associated with Living Hope based on financial need and academic ability.
